Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Valuelix (valuelix.com) is a free online tool that estimates the resale value of used electronics in India. Valuelix does not buy or sell devices. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the DPDP Rules, 2025 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

2. Getting a price needs no personal data

You can check an estimate without logging in and without giving your name, phone number or email. The device details you enter (category, model, condition, purchase year, accessories, battery health, bill yes/no) are not personal data and are used only to calculate the estimate.

3. What we collect, and when

• Login (optional): if you choose to log in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture, and we save your past estimates so you can see them in "My History".
• Contact form: your name, email address and message, used only to reply to you.
• Location for nearby dealers (when this feature is available): only your pincode, or your approximate location if you allow it in your browser. This is used to find dealer shops near you and is not linked to your name.
• Phone number (only with your consent): if you tick the consent box and tap "Share my number with this dealer", your phone number is shared with that one dealer only, so they can contact you. It is never shown to any dealer before that, and never to more than the dealer you chose.
• Dealers who register give their shop name, owner name, phone, address, location, opening hours and shop photos so customers can find them, plus a login email and password (the password is stored only as a secure hash). Customers see the shop details, never the dealer's login email.
• Anonymous search counts: when you check a price we store the model name you searched, the date and a one-way code made from a random number saved in your browser (not your name, phone, account or IP address). It only lets us count each device once per day, show "Most checked this week" and add missing models.
• Technical data: like every website, our servers briefly record your IP address and request details to keep the service secure (for example, to stop spam and abuse through rate limits).

4. Cookies and analytics

We use one necessary login cookie (only if you log in) and store your language choice and cookie choice on your device. Optional analytics cookies (PostHog, to understand which pages are used) are loaded only after you tap "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner. You can change your choice any time from "Cookie settings" in the footer. We do not use advertising cookies.

5. How we use data

• To show your estimate and your saved history.
• To connect you with a dealer you chose (only after your consent).
• To reply to your messages.
• To keep the site secure and prevent misuse.
• To improve Valuelix using anonymous, aggregated usage data (only with analytics consent).

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only: with the single dealer you choose to share your number with; with service providers that run the site for us (hosting, database, email delivery, image storage, and analytics if you consented), who may process it only on our instructions; and with authorities when required by law.

7. How long we keep data

Login and history data: until you delete your history or ask us to delete your account. Contact messages: up to 12 months. Dealer requests and offers: up to 12 months after they are closed. Shared phone numbers: only as long as needed for that request. Security logs: a short period, normally not more than 90 days.

8. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw any consent you gave (this does not affect what was done before), and nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity. You can clear your search history yourself from "My History".

9. Children

Valuelix is meant for users aged 18 and above. If you are under 18, please use Valuelix only with a parent or guardian, who must give consent before any personal data (such as a phone number) is shared.

10. Security

We use reasonable security practices such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and rate limits. No system is perfectly secure; if a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the authorities as required by law.

11. Grievances and contact

12. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. Important changes will be shown on the website.
